Mark Cameron

Rhode Island Taekwon-Do Federation head instructor Mark Cameron began his athletic career as a Weightlifter. His 11 year competitive career included nine National championships, three Pan American Gold medals, a World championship bronze medal, two Olympic team berths, 26 American and one World record. Mark was named "American Weightlifter of the Decade", is a Hall of Fame member and a Sullivan Award finalist.

Following retirement from Weightlifting in 1980 Mark began Martial Arts study, achieving first degree black belt in Chung Do Kwan Taekwon Do in 1987. Since then he has studied International Taekwon Do Federation Taekwon Do under Mr. Colin Dahlen, V dan and Region 8 Director. Mark received his II dan in 1991 and III dan in 1994. He has also studied Judo, Kempo, WTF Taekwon Do, Kickboxing, Hwarang Do and Uechi-Ryu Karate.

Mark has had the privilege of training directly with General Choi, Hong Hi, Ninth Dan Grand Master and founder of Taekwon Do at seminars and ITF International Instructor courses.

Mark has a bachelor's degree in Physical Education, a Masters degree in Biomechanics, and is currently pursuing an MBA in Management Information Systems. He is employed as an Object Oriented Computer Analyst. Mark is a Rhode Island Department of Education certified teacher.
